Liverpool Step Up Title Bid With Arsenal Win
Jurgen Klopp’s men have shown they are hungry for the English Premier League (EPL) title, especially after Liverpool’s emphatic 2-0 win over Arsenal last night, Wednesday 16 March.
The crowd at Emirates Stadium in central London enjoyed a brave game of football from the Gunners in the first half, but things went awry for the hosts ten minutes after the break.
Reds midfielder Thiago Alcantara swooped through the defence with a cutting pass to team-mate Diogo Jota, who outfoxed opposing goalie Aaron Ramsdale to put the visitors one up on the scoreboard at the 54th minute.
Klopp kept the on-field energy fresh after Liverpool’s first goal by replacing Jota with Roberto Firmino, who rewarded his decision by putting the team two up eight minutes later.
Arsenal made every attempt to get back into the game but by the final whistle, Liverpool had chalked up another victory, as well as secured 69 points and a comfortable second place on the EPL table – just one point shy of top-of-the-log Manchester City’s 70 points.
